community & education, that’s PEACE!

THE PEACE PROGRAM

The PEACE Program has provided critically needed access to developmental information and a community during the most critical years of the child’s development since 2016.

Thank you for being part of The PEACE Program community — whether you joined back in 2016 at our pop-up Baby & Me group or found us more recently. What started as a mission to support adults supporting children during the child's most critical years of development has grown into something extraordinary: nearly 3,000 families and over 250 educators have come through this community. I’m so proud of what we’ve built together.

And, after much reflection, much of The PEACE Program will close on December 1, 2025. Group Coaching will be retained with Mariana on Substack, but the program itself is no longer sustainable financially and with the significant (nearly volunteer) time it required. While this chapter is closing, the work itself continues — just in a more focused, sustainable way.

Join Mariana on Substack!

“Everyone is always asking me why I take parenting classes when I seem so good with my kid. I always tell them, ‘I’m good with my kid because I take parenting classes!’”

Welcome to The Prepared Parent

Welcome to The Prepared Parent! You are nearly there to join a growing community of parents who believe in something powerful:

We can raise children by getting out of their way.

Together, we’ll learn to step back with confidence — not because we’re unsure, but because we’re prepared. Whether you are just joining us or have been part of the journey for years, this is your space to ask freely, learn deeply, and parent intentionally. Formerly known as “Group Coaching,” this is where we can lean into support and quality information about child development so you can make your own parenting decisions that fit your family.

PEACE is Now on Substack!
  • Marina offers extremely helpful and supportive services for new parents. I wish more people had access to this kind of tailored listening and feedback.

  • Mariana is always excellent. She is so helpful in how she talks about limits and freedoms.

    Shawna

  • I learned so much about where our three-year-old is in his developmental stage and how it differs from when he was two.

    Megan

  • Mariana is amazing at giving a solid framework to approach different situations, so you aren't left only parroting helpful phrases, but really learning how to take on the situations yourself.

    Shawna

  • Everyone is always asking me why I take parenting classes because it seems like I’m so good with my kid. And I always tell them, ‘I’m good with my kid because I take parenting classes!’ I don’t know why more parents take advantage of these programs!

    Britt

  • Even though I am Montessori trained, I think the way she delivers information has summarized the core principles in such a clear and easy way to understand.

    Shraddha

  • I feel empowered with some additional skills that will truly make us better parents. I tried some of it out last night at bedtime and I'm happy to report my toddler responded to it REALLY well.

    Victoria

  • I am grateful for Mariana and her program's places emphasis on reaching BIPOC families- thank you!

    Hana

  • Mariana offers such unbiased listening and helpful advice as you want it and in a format you can use right away (or whenever you are ready). It's such a gift!

    Beth

  • I hope an increasing numbers of families can benefit from her work!

    Sheila

  • We really appreciate the balance of offerings the Mariana has. Both the time in group coaching and the online courses, we have had lots of opportunity to learn and grow.

    Shawna

  • With Mariana's group coaching, I was reminded that my child can do more than I think! I just need to create the conditions for his skills to emerge. Mariana is amazing and this program is a huge gift to our family! Thank you!

    Sarah

  • I love that the group coaching and 1:1s have video recordings of sessions so that my husband can playback the videos to catch up on what we discussed. It's so helpful also if I ever miss a class!

    Nina

  • I have had a great time learning from Mariana both in reading her book and asking questions in the group coaching lives.

    Beth

  • I LOVE the examples Mariana gives as they help me connect to the big ideas so easily.

    Shraddha

  • The open-mindedness and compassion that Mariana brings to her work is invaluable.

    Sheila

  • We've already started implementing some of the tips and strategies and are seeing improvement already. Thank you, Mariana!

    Lindsay

    Sheila

  • I spent 30 days with Ms. Mariana and I call them 30 days of transformation because this course changed my thinking. Concepts that seemed very familiar in Montessori, under her teaching seem entirely new. I just listened and wrote about 50 pages of notes every time she spoke.

  • I am just continually grateful for Mariana and the support she provides for parents and our children. She has made the Montessori approach feel possible for our family.

    Tanya

  • Our son napped BOTH days this weekend due to your guidance...SO helpful!

    Whitney

  • It's so wonderful to feel like there's someone who is there to answer questions from a child development perspective without trying to rush or judge you.

My Story

mission & vision

THE PEACE PROGRAM

  • WHAT WE DO

Our mission is to support adults supporting children during life’s most critical period of human development. We offer coaching for parents, families, teachers, assistants, and school leaders to provide this support.

  • WHERE WE ARE GOING

Our vision is for children to reach their developmental potential and thereby find peace within themselves that they can bring to the world. We enhance the Montessori Method by adding a layer of support around the adults on either side of the classroom door to access community, education, and expert guidance.

  • WHY WE EXIST

We exist because the time is now for peace and peace is only possible through the liberation of the child from the oppressive systems that constrain their ability to develop as they are trying to. Our programs are essential to the well-being of children. Too often, the adults around children rely on punitive, oppressive methods of correction - even when trying to implement the Montessori Method. Having a guide creates less stressed, more proactive, developmentally-aligned adults in the lives of children.

  • HOW WE SHOW UP

We value self-reflection, self-care, responsiveness to being/becoming Anti-Bias / Anti-Racist, and a deep commitment to the whole child within the whole family. We keep our values front and center in all of our programming. We invite every community member and stakeholder into our spaces with these values in mind.

  • WHERE WE STAND

We stand in solidarity with Black, Indigenous and People of the Global Majority against racism and the systematic oppression of People of the Global Majority. We use our programming to uplift the work of Black, Indigenous, and practitioners/ families of the Global Majority so that we may live into the values of justice, equity, diversity and inclusion. We stand in solidarity with Black, Indigenous and People of the Global Majority against racism and the systematic oppression of People of the Global Majority, especially Black, Indigenous, 2sLGBTQIA+ Women. We use our programming to uplift the work of Black, Indigenous, and practitioners/ families of the Global Majority so that we may live into the values of justice, equity, diversity and inclusion.

What do we mean by Anti-Racism?

In order to explain the ways in which our programs and facilitators live into our values of being/becoming Anti-Bias/Anti-Racist, we have to define what that means to us and what success will look like.

Antiracism is a belief that people are inherently equal no matter which invented race one belongs to (no person is better or worse than another in any number of measures based on race)*. And, an Antiracist acknowledges that there are racial disparities in every facet of life (from life expectancy, income, test scores, etc). We know that these disparities have been systematically and intentionally created through opportunities and privileges for some races (namely, white) and obstacles for other races (namely, Black, Indigenous and People of the Global Majority). We believe that any disparity based on race has been created based on a policy or structure that can be changed. The policies, not the people, are the focus. This is also true for Anti-Bias: no person is better or worse than another based on gender identity, religion, sexual orientation, etc. As each of these oppressions and biases stem from white supremacy, the framework of race is our starting point knowing however, that misogyny, homophobia, transphobia, ableism, and more are interconnected.
